He completed primary school in 1977, which he started in 1972. He graduated from the secondary school he enrolled in the same year in 1981. After four years of high school education, he entered Konya Selçuk University Faculty of Theology in 1986 and graduated in 1992. After working as a teacher in Hatay and Konya for a while, he started working as a "Research Assistant" in the Department of Sociology of Religion at Dicle University Faculty of Theology in 1996.
He completed his master's degree at Selçuk University Social Sciences Institute with his thesis titled "Social and Religious Life in Alevis in Ereğli and Its Surroundings". He received the title of "doctor" at Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences with his thesis titled "Religious Life in Turkmen Alevis in Diyarbakır and Its Surroundings". He also became an "associate professor" with his work titled "The Adventure of a Religious-Social Group in Written Texts: Bibliography of Yazidis in Turkey".
He has published many articles on Alevism, Yazidism and Assyrianism and presented many papers in national and international symposiums, many of which were published. He conducted field research in Syria, Iraq and Iran on the subjects of Alevism, Yazidism and Assyrianism.
Assoc. Prof., who carried out the project called "The Sacred Place of the Yazidis: Laleş", which he managed in 2007-2008. Dr. Taşğın was given the "Alevi Bektashi Research Award" by the Hüseyin Gazi Culture and Art Foundation in 2009.
While continuing his duties as a faculty member at Dicle University Ziya Gökalp Faculty of Education, Department of Primary Education; Taşğın, who was appointed to the Department of Sociology at Ardahan University, Faculty of Humanities and Letters, also served as the general secretary of the University. He was then appointed to the Department of Sociology at Konya University, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, with the title of professor. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşğın has been working as a faculty member of the Department of Alevi Bektashi Culture at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Graduate Education Institute since 2019.
